A Trusted Professional

Steve Haas is an experienced HR consultant with over 30 years of hands-on leadership across human resources, training, and management roles. Throughout his career, Steve has partnered with organizations to design practical, people-centered HR strategies that align business goals with strong workplace culture.

For more than 20 years, Steve worked primarily within Fortune 500 organizations across industries including insurance, call centers, technology, and publishing. His work in these environments focused on employee relations, compliance, leadership support, and large-scale organizational strategy. His final corporate role was as Employee Relations Director at Nationwide Insurance, where he served on a small leadership team responsible for developing and executing employee relations strategy for an organization of more than 30,000 employees nationwide.

Over the past 10+ years, Steve has brought this depth of experience to mission-driven and public service organizations, serving as the senior leader responsible for the entire HR function. As an HR consultant and executive leader, he has supported organizations with complex regulatory environments, union considerations, and values-driven cultures.

Steve has worked extensively with nonprofit and healthcare organizations, including Disability Rights California, a nonprofit law firm within the national Protection & Advocacy system that provides free legal services to people with disabilities. He has also led HR efforts for One Community Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) delivering primary and specialty healthcare to underserved communities regardless of ability to pay.

Today, as a trusted Steve Haas HR consultant, Steve partners with organizations seeking thoughtful, compliant, and strategic human resources leadership that supports both people and purpose.

Mission

To partner with organizations to build a people strategy that results in a workplace culture that not only achieves its goals but improves the lives of all who interact with it.

Vision

A world where every workplace is a catalyst for community well-being.

My HR Philosophy

My approach to HR is rooted in the business of the organization. How do you structure the people strategy to achieve the organization’s goals? Together, we will design programs and interventions that are uniquely suited to what you are trying to achieve as an organization. But it is more than just that. I help you get clear about your organization’s intention about its people strategy. When workplaces are built with intention — where leadership is authentic, HR is principled, and every policy reflects a deeper commitment to community and human dignity, magic happens: people thrive, goals are achieved, and there’s a ripple effect in your community that extends far beyond the organization’s boundaries.
