A Trusted Professional

I have been an HR practitioner for over 30 years, in a variety of human resources, training, and management roles. My industry background for the first 20+ years included insurance, call centers, technology, and publishing, primarily in the Fortune 500 world. My last role in this arena was as Employee Relations Director at Nationwide Insurance, where I was part of a small team who led the employee relations strategy for an organization of 30k+ employees.

For the last 10+ years, I’ve owned the HR function for smaller organizations with very strong public service missions. Disability Rights California is a nonprofit law firm that is part of the Protection & Advocacy system which provides a wide array of free services for people with disabilities. One Community Health is a Federally Qualified Heath Center (FQHC) that provides primary and specialty healthcare to underserved communities regardless of ability to pay.

Mission

To partner with organizations to build a people strategy that results in a workplace culture that not only achieves its goals but improves the lives of all who interact with it.

Vision

A world where every workplace is a catalyst for community well-being.

My HR Philosophy

My approach to HR is rooted in the business of the organization. How do you structure the people strategy to achieve the organization’s goals? Together, we will design programs and interventions that are uniquely suited to what you are trying to achieve as an organization. But it is more than just that. I help you get clear about your organization’s intention about its people strategy. When workplaces are built with intention — where leadership is authentic, HR is principled, and every policy reflects a deeper commitment to community and human dignity, magic happens: people thrive, goals are achieved, and there’s a ripple effect in your community that extends far beyond the organization’s boundaries.

Education & Credentials

I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Science in Human Resource Management, both from Golden Gate University. I served on the faculty of UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education programs teaching Principles of HR Management and other HR courses for seven years and was on the Board of Directors for the Sacramento Area HR Association for eight years. I am currently on the Board of Directors for the California Employment Round Table, which partners with the California Civil Rights Department to present webinars regarding workplace harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
